Placenta Services & Fees

TCM Encapsulation (Traditional Chinese Medicine Inspired): $ 275 (might incur travel fee)

This method of preparing the placenta for encapsulation involves steaming the placenta gently with herbs. I use ginger and can add lemon and cayenne pepper if requested. Putting the herbs in the steaming process is thought to bring out the placenta’s natural healing properties. Lemon is thought of as an antiseptic and helps distribute the placenta throughout the body. Cayenne and ginger are warming herbs and thought to lend their properties to the placenta. The ginger specifically acts as a facilitator for energy and good blood flow. TCM is believed to have tonifying, healing, and warming properties. If your placenta has been frozen, this is always the method of choice.

Tincture: $30

The placenta tincture is another way to reap the physical benefits from the placenta besides capsule form./ Tinctures are mainly meant for energy, transition, stress, and hormonal stabilization. They are great for returning menstrual cycles, menopause, and even puberty. The biological mother and daughter of the birthing mom can also benefit from the tincture as it has an almost indefinite shelf life if stored properly. Mom may also give the tincture to a baby older than 6 months for teething and transition. The tincture is made from a thumbnail-sized piece of raw placenta and 100-150 proof brandy or vodka, aged for 6 weeks postpartum and then strained. It is stored in a dropped bottle. Can also be made from placenta capsules.

RAW Encapsulation $225 ( might incur travel fee)

This method of preparing the placenta for encapsulation skips the steaming process all together and is set for dehydration while still “raw”. This process is only used within the first 48 hours after birth to ensure freshness. Some people choose this method because they are raw food activists and believe the cooking or steaming process destroys some of the nutrients. Using the RAW method provides a burst of energy up front but does not offer the longer more tonifying benefits of TCM. Some benefits for choosing RAW encapsulation would be: long labor, postpartum hemorrhage or history of it, desire to increase breast milk and energy immediately postpartum.

Placenta Prints: Included with Encapsulation

A placenta print is made by placing your placenta down onto acid-free, high-quality paper. The imprint left behind depicts the "Tree of Life". Each one is unique and beautiful--a precious keepsake.

A 9x12 canvas print made from your placenta and umbilical cord before encapsulation.
